Scarborough's 3* Crown Hotel has recently changed its name to the Crown Spa Hotel and started on its quest to gain an extra star and operate as a 4* hotel through the 21st Century. The owners of the hotel, Chariet Ltd, plan to increase the number of bedrooms to 150, add an extra restaurant, operate an award winning Health and Leisure Club and increase its event suites to 7 which will make it capable of servicing meetings of up to 375 guests.

The Hotel St Nicholas in Scarborough become the latest acquisition for the Swallow Group at the beginning of August and are looking forward to building on their already successful conference and leisure facilities and reaping the benefits of being part of this successful national chain.

Meanwhile, Scarborough Spa Complex continues with its renovations and is currently in the process of replacing the roof of the Grand Hall. It has already had its Wi Fi system fitted, which has proved to be a big success with conference delegates and local businesses and this will be complemented with upgraded equipment, redecoration and a new heating and air conditioning system fitted in the Ocean Room. The work will be ongoing until 2008 and will not interfere with any future conferences using its facilities.
