University of Leeds scoop award for catering

Bev Kenny, Assistant Director for Conferencing and Catering at the University of Leeds, has been honoured by the catering community, recently winning a prestigious award from Cost Sector Catering Magazine.

Bev, who has worked at the University for almost 20 years, scooped the top award for best University/College catering team at the annual Cost Sector Catering Awards 2008 on Thursday 27 March, beating off stiff competition from the University of Portsmouth and Stourbridge College.

It was Bev’s implementation of the university’s strategic vision and her ability to effectively manage change after bringing the university’s catering services back in house that saw her win the award.

The judges commended Bev for being a key player in the planning and organisation of key events and the innovative range of food features she has introduced throughout her role as assistant director.

On winning the award, Bev said: “I am absolutely thrilled to win this award, not just for myself but for the whole team. We all have such passion and enthusiasm for what we do and to be recognised for our recent achievements is a great honour.

“We have been working hard to deliver a world class catering service in line with the university’s strategic vision, recently investing in new facilities to ensure that our foodservice provision is of the highest quality, so winning this award is a fantastic reward for all our efforts.”

The annual awards recognise the achievements of the most dynamic individuals in the catering industry and those who have played an influential part in delivering innovative foodservice provision. Full details of the awards are available from www.costsectorcatering.co.uk
