When the work is done and your event has been a resounding success, Yorkshire offers a fantastic array of places to see and historical, cultural and sporting sites and venues to visit.  Please see below suggested itineraries designed to show you the best of what Yorkshire has to offer.

Heritage Trail

Start the day in York with a visit to York Minster.  Explore the history beneath your feet in the Undercroft with a highly acclaimed audio tour.  Go on to discover the legends of the railway and the story of steam at the National Railway Museum, York.

Enjoy dinner at Hotel Du Vin, York where the Bistro offers a menu rooted in classic European cuisine with a contemporary edge.

To finish the day, take an evening stroll and join a Ghost Walk and discover why York is one of Europe’s most haunted cities.   Enjoy a night of history and mystery to capture the imagination and inspire the mind.

Why not stay in overnight in Leeds - inbetween York and Haworth?

On day two, start your day in Haworth and discover the famous Bronte sisters with a visit to the village and the Bronte Parsonage Museum.   In the afternoon, enjoy a road trip to Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, one of Yorkshire’s World Heritage Sites and the 18th century Studley Royal Water Garden.

To round off your day nicely, sample some delicious home made cakes for afternoon tea at Betty’s in Harrogate.   Harrogate borders the Yorkshire Dales National Park, boasting some of the UK’s finest countryside so if you’re feeling energetic and in need of a good walk to blow away the cobwebs, you’re in the right place.

Activity Trail

From wild expansive moors and high rugged cliffs to picturesque rolling hills and stunningly beautiful coastline, Yorkshire’s great outdoors is not to be missed.  Enjoy a wide range of activities by bike or on foot.

Start your day exploring the North York Moors area, where you can cycle through Dalby Forest.  A choice of routes is available depending on your ability, from 1 mile to 80 miles!

Alternatively, if cycling isn’t your choice of activity, why not try the high wire forest adventure course, Go Ape at Dalby Forest?

Head to the coast in the afternoon and explore the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Take a stroll on the beach, enjoy a boat ride or sample some local fish and chips.

Shopping and Culture Trail

Yorkshire’s five cities are great shopping destinations.  Start off in Leeds, dubbed as ‘Knightsbridge of the north’ which boasts designer and boutique shops as well as high street names.  Take a trip to Bradford, where you will find Britain’s biggest Asian department store, Bombay Stores.  Here you’ll also find the Alhambra Theatre, which is regarded as the North's premier touring venue and hosts the best in large scale entertainment from ballet and opera to variety and comedy, musicals, drama and, of course, the annual pantomime.

In the afternoon, head to Sheffield an exciting city which has everything from malls to markets.  Hop on the futuristic supertram to Meadowhall, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres which houses more than 270 shops!

Alternatively head for Hull where you’ll discover designer boutiques in Savile and George Street and high street stores in Princes Quay and the Prospect Centre.  For something different try the cobbled streets of the Old town where the indoor market offers a diverse array of goods with everything from fruit and flowers to handbags and handmade cards. For the newest retail and leisure experience, visit St Stephens in Hull - with many stylish shops as well as numerous places to eat, drink and relax.

On day two, start off at Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield which is the centre of international importance for creation, exhibition and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture.  The magnificent vistas over the valley, lakes and gardens provide a rich environment for the best examples of sculpture by international artists, including Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

In the afternoon, head to The Millennium Galleries in Sheffield. With four individual galleries under one roof, there are all sorts of wonderful things to see.  Enjoy exhibitions from national collections including Tate and V&A Museum.
