About the Venue
Established in the early nineties by Paul Theakston, 6th generation of Masham's
famous brewing family, the brewery has grown from strength to strength and in
early 2007 it was proudly awarded 'Brewery of the Year' by The Good Pub Guide
for the second year running. In addition, Black Sheep Bitter was chosen as the
North East's favourite cask ale in the 2007 Best of British Beer Awards hosted
by Cask Marque and the Daily Telegraph.
The Black Sheep Brewery Visitor Centre is a major year-round attraction with
regular 'shepherded' tours of the brewery involved fascinating trip around the
traditional brew house and fementing room. Visitors experience the traditional
brewing process and sample the award winning ales.
The spacious split level Bistro and Baa..r, with beautiful views over the river
Ure provides a variety of culinary delights throughout the day into the evening.
Also, if you're looking for that special gift, the Black Sheep Shop is full of
'ewe-nique' gifts for all occasions, including our full range of Black Sheep beers.
The Black Sheep Brewery Visitor Centre is great value for corporate entertaining,
product launches, parties and weddings, as well as hosting many special events
throughout the year. Groups and parties are very welcome and a car and coach
park is available on site.
