Team Building

Yorkshire holds an array of activities which will get your delegates a little hot under the collar, whilst turning your events and conferences into something your guests certainly won’t forget.

Yorkshire South

Incentives and ground breaking team building ideas are a specialty in Yorkshire South. From adrenaline filled adventures to the sedate and pampered, the region has an option for every conference organiser to add value to their event.

If your delegates have an interest in golf they can play during day or night in Yorkshire South. By night, Sheffield International Venues have introduced their innovative night golf package, where you are free to roam the picturesque grounds of Beauchief Abbey with its lit fairway and luminous balls.

For a little more adventure, take a personal training session with a GB Diver at Ponds Forge Sheffield, or take to the water outdoors at Rother Country Park. If getting wet or going head to head is not for you embark on an environmental day at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve home to the UK’s leading conservation charity or experience duck herding at magnificent stately homes like Chatsworth House.

Indoors, take a 150ft leap at converted Templeborough Steelworks – Magna, as part of the Awesome Foursome which combines a bungee jump, powerfan, abseil and zip wire activities for an adrenaline filled package. Learn to rock climb at the Doncaster Dome or ice skate at Ice Sheffield – you could even challenge your colleagues to Giant Ice Cube Curling and see how you fair. Continuing the competitive theme, the Olympic Training Centre English Institute of Sport Sheffield allow groups to thrash it out while playing mini ice hockey or going up against each other in gladiator style competitions with giant inflatables, obstacle courses, rugby and boxing. Alternatively, enjoy a snooker tournament at the World Snooker Academy hosted by one of the award-winning snooker greats – the tournament winner will receive the prize of all prizes when they play the host – a famous snooker legend.

If you’re looking for a tastier menu organise a special demonstration at the award winning gastro pub The Milestone and allow delegates to see how the professionals cook. Your guests will pick up tips from the experts before sitting down for a meal to remember. Alternatively, whet your appetitive and sip ice cold champagne as you explore the latest Tate and V&A collections at Millennium Gallery.

The National Media Museum in Bradford’s Games Lounge is a brand new attraction where corporate event guests can plug into the history of videogaming, play classic, groundbreaking games in their original arcade or console formats and discover the story behind a global phenomenon.

Asteroids, Manic Miner, Frogger and Street Fighter 2 – once the height of new gaming technology – were the forerunners of today’s multi-billion pound industry of Playstations, Xboxes and Wiis. Located in the Museum’s main foyer, behind the stunning glazed frontage, the Games Lounge includes these seminal games, and more, many of them in authentic arcade cabinets.

For evening corporate events including canapé receptions and bowl food parties for up to 300, or seated dinners for up to 150; guests will be able to play their way through the titles that helped videogaming become one of the most successful entertainment industries in the world; from the sensational Pong (1972) to celebrated releases from the 1990s such as Super Mario Kart and 007 Golden Eye.

Guests will be able to track the history of videogames through a giant timeline as well as view the early computers and games consoles that turned a nation on to a new pastime.

Featuring 15 titles, the Games Lounge is also the first public gallery that draws on the collection and knowledge of the National Videogame Archive (NVA). Launched in 2008 as a partnership between the National Media Museum and Nottingham Trent University, the NVA records the vital role videogames play within the national heritage and the place they now hold in modern culture.
