Rotary event to stay in Yorkshire
Following a highly successful annual conference recently held in York (September 2011), Rotary International District 1270 has chosen to remain in Yorkshire for their 2012 annual conference. The Conference, which next year will focus on ‘Youth’ and is entitled ‘a conference with a difference to make a difference’, will take place in Hull & East Yorkshire from the 21st – 23rd September 2012.
Elly King, Business Tourism Executive from Hull & East Yorkshire Conferences, said:
“Hull and East Yorkshire are renowned for their warm welcome and The Rotary District will definitely receive this when they arrive here next September. This is the first time the conference has been held in the city and we are delighted that the destination has been chosen to host the event. The programme for the conference is action packed and delegates will be able to take advantage of a number of our region’s fantastic hotels, venues and attractions.
“Hull and East Yorkshire is well equipped for events like the Rotary International District Conference due to ease of access and a great range of quality venues which offer amazing value for money. Hull has a bustling, compact, pedestrianised city centre with a magnificent marina and eight free museums to explore. Just a short drive from the city delegates can dine in the splendour of a country manor house, marvel at the dramatic heritage coastline or visit Bridlington for a traditional seaside experience.”
Hull Truck Theatre will host the majority of the conference as well as Friday evening’s entertainment - ‘Last night of the Proms’ - whilst the Victorian Grade II listed Mercure Hull Royal Hotel will be the conference headquarters. The award winning Willerby Manor, set in three acres of beautiful gardens, will be the setting for the prestigious Rotary District Governor’s Ball.
Freya Cross, Rotary International District 1270 Conference Chair 2012, said:
“Thanks to a great working relationship with Hull & East Yorkshire Conferences, I am delighted to say that plans are coming together well for the 2012 event.
““The emphasis of next year’s Conference will be on youth, as all our young people, whatever their background or personal circumstances deserve to have the skills and expertise to achieve their dreams and aspirations for the future. I believe that Rotary can add value to all organisations dedicated to encouraging and supporting our young people. In fact, Rotary is a resource that should embraced in this current climate. With this in mind a number of regional high profile speakers have already been booked for what I am sure will be an informative and inspiring Conference.
“Hull has a fantastic offering for conference delegates and their partners, and attendees will be able to explore the city and its many interesting features during the event.”
