Yorkshire brings the magic to Confex

Jan 30 2012

On the Yorkshire stand at Confex this year, conference bureaux Conference Leeds, Hull & East Yorkshire Conferences, Sheffield Convention Bureau and York & Scarborough Conferences are putting the magic back into the conference and events industry by showcasing a few of the specialities and added extras delegates can receive whilst in the region.

During the exhibition, a rolling programme of event activities will take place across the Yorkshire pavilion. In the Sheffield City Region, magician to the stars, Steve Faulkner will be on-stand dazzling delegates with his slight-of-hand tricks in between client meetings with stand-share partners Sheffield International Venues, Magna, Sheffield Hallam University, Doncaster Racecourse and East Midlands Trains.

Over in Hull & East Yorkshire, delegates can get a real taste of Yorkshire with a ‘proper’ cup of Yorkshire Tea whilst being sketched by a caricature artist against a setting of iconic East Yorkshire landscapes like the famous Humber Bridge. Plus, to emphasise the region’s links with art, two sought after pairs of tickets will be given away on stand for the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts which features vivid paintings of the East Yorkshire landscape.

In North Yorkshire, delegates can meet with the people that bring York & Scarborough’s finest venues to life including the only 5* hotel in Yorkshire - Cedar Court Grand, York Racecourse, the £6.5m re-developed Scarborough Spa, the Park Inn and aspiring 5* luxury new venue, Raithwaite Hall. Visitors to the stand can also enjoy some musical magic from award-winning jazz musician and composer Alan Barnes. As well as playing on tour with Bryan Ferry’s band Roxy Music, Alan has also appeared as a session musician on albums by Bjork, Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum and Westlife.

In Leeds, join the award-winning Cooking School at Dean Clough as they teach visitors to make chocolate and raspberry soup with a chance to taste the results.

As well as being the place to be to host an event in an award-winning, unique environment, Yorkshire’s conference bureaus are also well positioned to offer event organisers a wide range of options in city, rural and coastal destinations. From the contemporary and vibrant cities of Leeds and Sheffield, to the historic attractions of York and coastal gems such as Scarborough, the rugged coastline of East Yorkshire and the waterfront city of Hull.

The Yorkshire stand comprises of Sheffield Convention Bureau (B1212), Hull & East Yorkshire Conference (B1312), York & Scarborough Conferences (B1112) and Conference Leeds (B1311)
